For the modernization of the glazing departments of its Fiorano and Sassuolo plants, Savoia Italia (Moma Group) has installed Smac’s D-Glaze, K-Flow and Klima technologies.
Savoia Italia, a historic brand of the Sassuolo ceramic district, part of the Moma Group, has conducted the plant upgrade of the glazing departments of its facilities in recent months, consolidating its collaboration with Officine Smac (Fiorano Modenese). The objective of the interventions, achieved through the installation of new automation devices, was to reach greater production flexibility, with rapid color changes, as well as a high quality control standard on the finished product.
Specifically, seven D-Glaze stations were installed at the Savoia plant in Fiorano Modenese, complete with accessories for the automatic preparation of glazes with controlled density, and two K-Flow devices for automatic control of airless spray nozzles.
The collaboration with Smac also involved the modernization of the Sassuolo production plant, acquired by the Moma Group in 2021, for which four D-Glaze stations, as many K-Flow devices and two Klima coolers were supplied.
The adoption of D-Glaze and K-Flow has made it possible to completely automate both the preparation of glazes and their feeding to the glazing stations, thanks also to an automatic recirculation and transport system from the grinding department to the production lines; through a simple graphic interface, the operator will therefore be able to choose which glaze or engobe recipe should be used and the plant will automatically provide preparation, additivation and feeding, always keeping the density and applied quantity parameters controlled and constant.
The two Klima coolers, serving the digital printers, will instead guarantee decorations free from defects and greater durability of the print heads.
The Moma group closed 2021 with consolidated revenues of approximately 120 million euros, generated by the three companies Ceramiche Moma, Herberia and Savoia Italia.
